Pilgrim services
In the summer season, Nidaros Cathedral has daily services where we welcome pilgrims. Everyone is welcome here, whether they come from far away, or are on their way as permanent residents of Trondheim.
The services take approximately 30 minutes. One has evening prayer with hymns, Bible reading and prayer, with the option of lighting candles and personal intercession. During the school holidays, some of the church services also include organ music.
Program pilgrim services in the summer of 2024
Monday - Thursday at 18.00
Friday at 18.00 Vespers
Saturday at 18.00 Pilgrim service
Sunday at 18.00 Evening mass
The services mainly take place in the Chapter House. During the summer holidays the services on Tuesday, Thursday and partly on Wednesday take place in the main church with organ music.
During the Olavsfest days, 28 July - 3 August, there is a separate rotation for church services.
Pilgrims are always welcome in Nidaros Cathedral, both to see the church and to attend a service. See our calendar for other church services. If you come as a pilgrim, you do not need to pay an entrance fee to see the church.
Pilgrim priest
Nidaros Cathedral has its own pilgrim priest who welcomes pilgrims. The priest office is at Nidaros Pilgrimsgård. He walks and talks with pilgrims.
Nidaros Pilgrimsgård is open all year round. Tired feet can rest here. During the summer season, there are daily pilgrim hosts who welcome those who come. There you can both spend the night and enjoy a good meal.
