Et musikalsk møte mellom TVE og den innovative vokalgruppeakrobaten Robert Hollingworth.
Robert Hollingworth om kveldens konsert:
"A musical miniature can encapsulate an intense emotion as well as any grand opera, especially when made with the kaleidoscopic timbre of a solo-voice ensemble, whose every chord has a thousand vowel permutations.
In a programme that spans five centuries, hear emotion expressed in so many ways: English Catholic composer William Byrd 'cries out in his distress' painting in a very pictorial way; 16th century Flem Orlandus Lassus plays with vowels and harmony to produce prisms of juxtaposed sounds; Giovanni Croce makes us laugh with a carnival masque; Monteverdi makes us feel everything (while writing some music that sounds like Gershwin and other passages like Puccini); Vaughan Williams (400 years on from Lassus) also paints with harmony but this time to help us (with Shakespeare) to imagine; finally, the French mid-20th century composer Daniel-Lesur offers sensuality in rapturous 12-voice settings of words from the Song of Songs.
